HAMPTON, VA (January 24, 2024) – Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications is pleased to announce two outstanding students have each received scholarship awards from RF|Binder, a New York City-based integrated communications agency and consultancy.

Receiving the 2023-2024 scholarship are strategic communications majors Kassidy McGill, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., and Kennedy Stoudemire, a senior from Chicago, Ill. RF|Binder awards the scholarships annually to outstanding female students with a major in strategic communications. In addition to the financial award, the students will receive one-on-one mentoring, leadership development training, and industry networking opportunities.

RF|Binder also actively recruits from Hampton University for its prestigious Associate Program, that offers recent graduates the potential opportunity to join the New York-headquartered agency full-time after graduation.

“Kassidy and Kennedy are exceptional candidates this year,” said Julia A. Wilson, dean of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. “Their work in the classroom and outside stands out and made them the clear choice as this year’s recipients. Our partnership with RF|Binder, now in its fourth year, has directly impacted nine young women, and students in the classes that have benefited from visits from RF|Binder Associates. The mentorship they have received has been invaluable in supporting the development of their careers in the public relations industry.”

“We are thrilled to have our partnership with Hampton University and to empower the next generation of communications leaders,” said Rebecca Binder, President of RF|Binder. “We continue to be impressed with the students we work with from the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications and are honored to be part of their career journey. We could not be happier that Kassidy and Kennedy are part of our scholarship program and we look forward to seeing the great impact they continue to make.”
