Introducing Our 2021-2022 Impact Report

Since our founding over 20 years ago, RF|Binder, a woman-owned and managed company, has been committed to social impact and sustainability, and building an organization that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are proud to have built a team that is driven by our purpose to empower our clients and ourselves to have impact, both internally, with every member of our team, and externally, by helping our clients recognize their opportunities for positive impact on society and the environment. We know how important it is to lead by example. This…

Recognizing our Civic Duty on Election Day

Below are excerpts from an internal memo from Amy Binder to the RF|Binder team regarding the upcoming Midterm Elections As everyone knows, tomorrow is election day and as one of our Civic Engagement days, our offices are closed. In my mind, tomorrow is in many ways the most important day of the year. Over the past couple of years, our democracy has continued to be put to the test and many have been discussing if it is coming to an end. History has shown us that nations go through cycles and…

RF|Binder’s Response to Dobbs v. Jackson Decision

Below are excerpts from an internal memo from Amy Binder to the RF|Binder team regarding the recent Dobbs v. Jackson decision repealing Roe v. Wade Dear RF|Binder team, Given the recent Dobbs v. Jackson decision repealing Roe v. Wade, we wanted to reaffirm our firm’s position on this topic. As a women-owned and operated firm that is committed to female empowerment, we find it extremely distressing to see women’s rights and frankly human rights, so directly compromised. RF|Binder wholeheartedly and unequivocally supports a person’s right to make autonomous and personal…

Reflections on Recent Acts of Violence

Below are excerpts from an internal memo from Amy Binder to the RF|Binder team regarding recent acts of gun violence Although we are all heading off to a long weekend, which hopefully will give us an opportunity to spend time with friends and family, I felt it imperative to communicate my thoughts to you now about the recent shooting at Uvalde at the Robb Elementary School and not wait until we return next week. In the aftermath of the horrific news of the Texas school shooting, coupled earlier this month,…

A Moment of Reflection This International Women’s Day

In the 20 years since I founded RF|Binder, it’s been incredibly gratifying to see the increase of women-owned and led businesses. Over this time period, the number of women entrepreneurs has risen by 114%. It is incredible to see that today 42% of all U.S. businesses are women-owned, which is an astounding rise when compared to just 4.6% 50 years ago, in 1972.  I grew up as part of a generation that fought to ensure that everyone understood that girls and boys were no different from one another and, as a result,…

Remembering David Finn

I am sorry to share that my father and Rebecca’s grandfather, David Finn, passed away yesterday afternoon. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday. When I shared on LinkedIn the story that PRWeek wrote on the occasion of his birthday, I was amazed that I had over 6,000 views with many people adding comments. It was wonderful for me to see the people of all ages whose lives he had touched and had an impact on.   David was not only my father but an incredible and inspirational mentor. He taught me how…

The Defining Verdict

Below are excerpts from an internal memo earlier this week from Amy Binder to the RF|Binder team regarding the verdict in the trial of George Floyd’s murder. Over the past couple of days, I have spent a lot of time thinking about the implications of the verdict in the trial regarding George Floyd’s murder. I believe this verdict represents a historic moment, with deep meaning and significance for every American.  Although the verdict was critically important, absolutely necessary and very appropriate, it is important to recognize that justice has not been…

Fires, Protests and Pandemics: Global Events Accelerate Embrace of ESG

About 50 years ago, in September 1970, Nobel prize-winning economist Milton Friedman took to the editorial pages of The New York Times to denounce the very notion of “social responsibility” as an appropriate consideration in corporate governance and management. He famously declared that the only social responsibility of a corporation is “to increase its profits.”  Friedman saw nothing wrong with corporate leaders supporting various social causes as individuals. But the concept of “corporate social responsibility” was more than just wrong-headed, Friedman argued, it was “hypocritical window-dressing” that “harms the foundation…

Our Troubled Times: A Letter from RF|Binder’s CEO

The following is a letter from CEO Amy Binder: We at RF|Binder are all deeply disturbed by the injustices that have been suffered by people of color in America, which have been brought to the forefront once again because of the tragic death of George Floyd. These injustices have existed for centuries and it is hard to believe how little progress has been made over the past sixty years since the Civil Rights movement first started.  As a result of this unjustifiable lack of progress, issues of racism and discrimination…
